Cornerstone Design Project - Project Lead

The semester long cornerstone project was my first real exposure to the engineering design process. To better accommodate individuals who do not have full use of one of their arms, my team was tasked with redesigning a bicycle component to increase accessibility and ease of riding. As the appointed project lead, I not only learned a lot about the design process, but also how to lead and work with others. After conducting interviews and multiple customer needs assessments, my team proceeded with a modified handlebar design that could be easily used with one hand. The handlebar was modeled in SolidWorks and 3D printed. At the end of the semester, we presented our work to a board of engineers and alumni and wrote a comprehensive specifications report, aiding my ability to communicate and create technical documents.
